Bow-Tie Pedestal Table
Product Overview
This table is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) as being made primarily of wood that was harvested in a sustainable manner from a well-managed forest. The Bow-Tie Pedestal Table also features a small center bullnose detail made of a special sampling of Black Walnut wood. Native American medicine women discovered through many generations of trial, error and observation that this wood has medicinal properties useful in the prevention and treatment of disease. It is believed that simply touching this Black Walnut wood will allow the active molecules (known scientifically as ellagitannins) to contact the surface of one’s skin, where they can be naturally absorbed.
Each table is made on a bench by hand, and is individually numbered and signed.

This company is dedicated to using FSC certified sustainably harvested woods. Better than that, the products are absolutely beautiful and heirloom quality, which is the greenest thing of all - long-term appreciation and reverence for what nature has made, and artisans have carefully crafted into something useful that will be appreciated for generations to come.

John Wiggers is a studio furniture maker who specializes in contemporary and Art Deco inspired designs. His holistic approach to furniture making often combines exotic veneers with unusual inlays such as purfling, metal, glass, stone and mother-of-pearl.
His passion for woodworking has been life-long, and many of his skills have been taught to him by his father Johan, who was himself a master craftsman in Holland.
The spirit of John’s work reflects his deep philosophical commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, largely by way of his involvement with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and his use of FSC certified woods. On Earth Day 1998 John became one of the first furniture makers in the world to become certified by Smartwood to the rigorous chain-of-custody standards of the FSC. Between 2000 and 2004 John also served on the board of FSC Canada in a variety of roles, including Treasurer and Chair. The key aspect that makes FSC unique from all other forest certification systems in the world is the way in which it embraces the rights of aboriginal peoples to utilize the forest for their culture, livelihood and spirituality.
In his travels and through his work with the FSC John has met a variety of aboriginal peoples, from the Kogi of the remote mountains of Columbia in South America to the Haida of the Pacific North-West in Canada. These experiences have given John considerable insight into the profound ancient wisdom held by many aboriginal cultures, including some of the traditional holistic and medicinal uses of various plants and trees from the forest. This has translated into a holistic perspective that manifests in John’s design aesthetic by way of subtle manipulations of natural forms and materials.
In this respect, John’s finely crafted furniture creations act as a bridge to help communicate the wisdom and knowledge of the old world into the new.
